Amedeo Modigliani - part 4


Amedeo Modigliani was born July 12, 1884, in Livorno, Italy. The serious illnesses he suffered during his childhood persisted throughout his life. At age 14, he began to study painting. The only solo show given the artist during his lifetime took place at the Galerie Berthe Weill in December 1917. Modigliani died January 24, 1920, in Paris.

Oscar Meistchaninoff  ( 1884 Vitebsk – 1956 Los Angeles) was a Russian sculptor active in France during the first half of the twentieth century. A member of Parisian avant-garde circles since the 1910s, he amassed an art collection that included works by his artist friends and took active part in the Parisian market for modern art as a private dealer

Pinchus Krémègne (1890 Lithuania – 1981 Ceret, France), was a Litvak - French artist, primarily known as a sculptor, painter and lithographer. He was a native of Zhaludak near Lida, and was a friend of both Chaim Soutine and Michel Kikoine. He studied sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Art. He became a target of the anti-Jewish pogroms and fled to Paris in 1912:
